A Roman theatre begun in the first century under Augustus. The Venus of Arles was discovered here in 1651, later restored by Louis XIV and now in the Louvre. The theatre is mostly in ruins, with only two Corinthian columns still standing, but it remains one of Arles' great classical monuments.
