A Gothic Renaissance mansion in the heart of the old town that houses the archaeological collection from nearby Glanum. The de Sade family — ancestors of the notorious marquis — owned the property for several centuries, and the building itself is of considerable architectural interest, with a fine inner courtyard and carved stone details. The collection inside includes sculptures, inscriptions, pottery, mosaics, and architectural fragments excavated from Glanum over the past century.
The museum is a natural companion to a visit to the Glanum site: you see the objects in context here before going to see where they came from, or review them afterwards with the site fresh in your memory. The scale is modest and the visit takes about an hour. Located on Rue du Parage in the old town centre.
