The Tskhavati Monastery is a medieval Georgian Orthodox complex set in a wooded clearing outside the village of Tskhavati, in the Ksani Gorge. The complex comprises a 9th-century main church, a smaller 10th-century church, and a two-storey bell tower — three distinct periods of construction layered onto a single hillside site.
The main church retains fragments of 14th-century frescoes on its interior walls, and decorative crosses carved into the western facade give a sense of the original ornamental program. The buildings are in poor condition — the vault has partially collapsed, and the walls show significant structural cracking — but the monastery is still used occasionally, and the setting among the old trees is exceptional.
