The Karlsruhe Botanical Garden lies at the northern edge of the Schlosspark, directly behind the palace, and has been on the same site since the 18th century. The collection includes Mediterranean greenhouse plants, a cactus house, a lily pond, and extensive collections of native German flora.
Free to enter and open year-round, the botanical garden is a quieter alternative to the more popular Schlosspark nearby. It is particularly pleasant in spring when the greenhouse collection flowers and the formal beds are at their best. The garden's placement within the wider palace grounds means it connects naturally with a walk through the Schlosspark — the two can easily be combined in a two-hour circuit.
