The Blaserturm (Trumpeter's Tower) stands at the south end of Marienplatz, its pointed spire marking one of the oldest surviving elements of Ravensburg's medieval fortifications. The tower takes its name from the town musicians (Bläser — wind players) who were stationed there to watch for fires and sound the alarm. The clock face was added in later centuries.
The tower is one of the city's main visual landmarks and a useful orientation point in the old town. It stands at the transition between Marienplatz and the narrower streets to the south, and the view north from below the tower along the main square is one of the better compositions in Ravensburg's historic centre.
