Wiblingen Monastery is a former Benedictine abbey south of Ulm, founded in 1092 and later rebuilt on a grand Baroque scale. The main draws are the late Baroque basilica and the Rococo library hall, a theatrical room of painted ceilings, columns, and gilded ornament.
The convent buildings also include a museum, and the monastery marks the start of the Upper Swabian Baroque Route. It is an easy half-day addition to Ulm for anyone interested in church architecture.
