Michaelskirche

Late-Gothic Protestant parish church with a Romanesque tower and 15th-century stonework.

The Michaelskirche is Waiblingen's main Lutheran parish church, perched on a small rise just south of the market square. The lower part of the bell tower is Romanesque and survives from the original 12th-century church; the rest of the building is late Gothic, completed in the early 16th century with high windows and a vaulted interior.

After the Reformation it became Protestant, and successive rebuildings have left a relatively spare interior with a wooden pulpit, original choir stalls, and good stained glass. Free to enter outside of services; the tower can occasionally be climbed for a wide view across the old town and the Rems valley.
