The Collegiate Church of Saints Philip and James is the large Gothic church on Kapellplatz, standing just beside the smaller Chapel of Grace. Its size gives the square a strong vertical anchor, and the interior is calmer and roomier than the crowded shrine.
Step inside for the late Gothic architecture and the sense of how Altötting's pilgrimage complex grew over time. It is not as emotionally charged as the chapel, but it gives the place its historical weight.
