Kapellplatz is Altötting's main square and the stage on which the town's pilgrimage life happens. The Chapel of Grace stands at its centre, surrounded by churches, arcades, religious shops, and the kind of open space that seems designed for processions.
Even if you are not religious, spend time here before moving from church to church. The square is the most interesting thing about Altötting as an urban place: compact, ceremonial, and still used for exactly the purpose that shaped it.
