In summer, the broad Rathausplatz fills with open-air tables from the surrounding cafes and restaurants, creating one of the better beer-terrace settings in Bavaria. The square is enclosed by the Rathaus on one side and the Perlachturm on another, giving it an imposing architectural backdrop. Several establishments compete for the same terrace space — Fuggerkeller and the Ratskeller are the most established. Augustiner and Spaten are the main beers on offer. On warm evenings the square stays busy until late, and the floodlit Rathaus facade makes for a striking backdrop.
