Augsburg has a good restaurant scene for a city its size, with a mix of traditional Swabian-Bavarian cuisine and modern cooking. The Rathausplatz beer terraces are the main summer draw. Swabian cuisine differs slightly from Bavarian — Maultaschen (large pasta pockets filled with meat and spinach) and Käsespätzle (cheese egg noodles) are the regional specialities. Several good restaurants cluster around Maximilianstrasse and the streets east of the Rathaus.
