Housed in the former St Magdalena monastery, a two-nave hall church, the Roman Museum presents Augsburg's ancient history from its founding as the Roman provincial capital Augusta Vindelicorum. The collection includes prehistoric exhibits and finds from the Roman period — tombstones, bronzes, ceramics, and a large mosaic floor. The building itself, with its late-Gothic vaulting, is as impressive as the exhibits.
