The Botanical Garden of the Friedrich-Alexander University occupies about 2 hectares on the north side of the Schlossgarten. It is a working research garden as well as a public park, maintained by the university and free to enter during opening hours.
The collections include Mediterranean plants, succulents, a rock garden, and a range of temperate trees and shrubs. The greenhouses at the rear contain tropical and subtropical species. It is a quiet, pleasant place and easy to combine with a walk through the adjacent Schlossgarten.
