Theater Hof is a remarkable thing for a town of fewer than fifty thousand: a full-time municipal theatre with its own opera company, drama ensemble, and ballet. The current building, on Kulmbacher Strasse just west of the old town, dates from 1994 — modern and acoustically excellent.
The repertory swings from Verdi to contemporary Stuttgart dance, with a strong line in well-known Singspiele and operettas. Ticket prices are absurdly low by German standards: forty euros for a stalls seat at a premiere is on the high end. Performances are in German; surtitles only on selected nights.
