The Stadtcafé is one of the few places in Schongau that covers both the afternoon cake-and-coffee crowd and the early-evening beer drinkers. It's on a side street off the Marktplatz, with a small terrace that catches afternoon sun. The coffee is good by Bavarian small-town standards. In the evening the clientele shifts from tourists to locals, and the atmosphere is unhurried.
