Getting There

Berlin is well connected. Tegel (8 km northwest), Schönefeld (22 km southeast), and the now-closed Tempelhof all served the city for decades; today Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) has replaced them all. Rail travellers arrive at Berlin Hauptbahnhof, the gleaming central station opened in 2006, which has direct connections to most major German cities and European capitals. All airports and the main station connect directly to the U-Bahn and S-Bahn — there's no need to take a taxi from the airport.
