Berlin rewards the curious. The Pergamon Museum alone is worth the trip — the reconstructed Ishtar Gate of Babylon and the Pergamon Altar are genuinely jaw-dropping. Beyond Museum Island, the city's sights sprawl across former east and west: the Olympiastadion, Checkpoint Charlie, the Bröhan's art nouveau treasures in Charlottenburg. Don't try to tick them all off — pick a neighbourhood, walk it slowly, and you'll find something worth your time around every corner.
