Schloss Lindstedt

Schloss Lindstedt is the westernmost and least-visited of the Sanssouci-area palaces — a modest neoclassical villa at the edge of the park, originally a summer residence for Frederick William IV. It sits outside the main tourist circuit and offers a pleasantly quiet alternative to the crowded palaces further east. The building was extensively modified in the 1850s and the gardens replanted; it is now used partly as an events venue but the exterior and grounds are freely accessible.

The palace is about a kilometre from the Neues Palais along a forest path — an easy walk that passes through some of the less-frequented parts of Sanssouci Park. The surrounding woodland and meadow area, known as the Wildpark, stretches west from the park towards Potsdam's forests and is popular with cyclists and joggers. The combination of Lindstedt with the Neues Palais and the Chinese House makes a good western circuit of the park.
