Explora is a small, owner-run museum of optical illusions, stereoscopic imagery, holograms and 3D film in an old bunker building in the Nordend. It is unfashionable, dimly lit, and full of patient explanations of how perception works — and a complete favourite with children, who can run through three floors of interactive exhibits and old stereoscopes. The collection of historical 3D photographs is genuinely impressive.
The eccentric Wim Burger has run the place single-handed since 2002 and is usually on hand to explain anything that needs explaining. Open Tuesday to Sunday 11am to 6pm; closed Mondays.
