Skyline Plaza is a glass-and-steel shopping centre on the western edge of the city centre, in the Europaviertel — a new district built on the old freight yards behind the Messe (trade fair grounds). The mall itself is unremarkable — 170 shops, mostly mid-market international chains, plus the usual food court — but the rooftop garden is the reason to come: a free public terrace on the 11th floor with one of the best views of the Frankfurt skyline.
The bars and restaurants on the rooftop charge a premium for the view; the bench seating around the garden is free. Best at golden hour, when the towers of the financial district light up against the western sky. The mall itself is open daily from 10am, closed Sundays (the rooftop opens with the bars).
