Limburg sits on the ICE high-speed line between Frankfurt and Cologne, with trains stopping at Limburg Süd station, a few kilometres south of the old town. Frankfurt is around 35 minutes away, Cologne around 40 — making Limburg an unusually easy half-day trip from either city.
The slower regional trains use the central Limburg (Lahn) station, which is a five-minute walk from the cathedral and the old town. By car, Limburg is on the A3 autobahn, which connects Frankfurt and Cologne and continues north towards the Ruhr.
