Getting There

Langeoog is accessible only by ferry — there is no bridge and no airstrip open to regular commercial traffic. Ferries run from Bensersiel on the North Sea coast of Lower Saxony, with the crossing taking about 50 to 75 minutes depending on tides and weather. Several sailings per day run year-round, with more frequent services in summer.

From Bensersiel, you can reach the mainland rail network via the town of Esens. The nearest large city is Aurich. By car, allow about an hour from Aurich to Bensersiel. Cars are not permitted on the island; leave your vehicle in the mainland car park at Bensersiel (paid parking).

Once you arrive at the island's ferry terminal, the Inselbahn heritage railway shuttles passengers to the village, about 2.6 kilometres inland.
