Beaches

Norderney's beaches run along the entire northern coast — several kilometres of wide, flat, fine sand backed by dunes. The main beach near the town is well served with amenities; further east the beaches empty out. At the far eastern end of the island, the Weisse Düne (White Dune) area is the most dramatic landscape and worth the bicycle ride.

The Wadden Sea mudflats on the southern side of the island offer a completely different experience — exposed at low tide and accessible on guided walks.
