Norderney divides cleanly in two. The western end has the town — restaurants, shops, the thalasso spa, the historic Conversationshaus — and the beaches immediately adjoining it. The eastern two-thirds is nature reserve: dune landscape, the Wadden Sea mudflats, and the wide North Sea horizon. Bicycles connect the two.
