A grand old Konditorei in the Weender Strasse, the main pedestrian street, with art-nouveau interiors, white-jacketed waiters, and a glass case of Torten that has been pulling in students, professors and visiting dignitaries since 1876. The breakfast is the meal — strong coffee, soft Brötchen, good jam — but the cakes are the point. Famously the favourite cafe of Erich Kästner during his student days.
