Hameln is easily reached from Hannover, about 50 kilometres to the northeast. Direct regional trains run roughly hourly (journey time around 45 minutes). By car, take the A2 motorway to the Hannover-Linden exit and then the B217 southwest to Hameln — about 45 minutes in normal traffic.
From further afield, Hannover is the nearest airport with good connections. The train from Hannover airport to Hameln requires a change at Hannover central station (Hauptbahnhof), with a total journey time of about 1.5 hours.
Hameln is also on the Weser Cycling Route (Weser-Radweg), a popular long-distance cycling path that follows the Weser from its source in the Teutoburg Forest to the sea at Bremerhaven. Cyclists coming south from Hannover or north from the Teutoburg Forest pass through the town.
