The Weser promenade runs along the west bank of the Weser River through Hameln, offering a pleasant walking route between the old town and the surrounding countryside. The views from the riverside path look back toward the old town's skyline — the distinctive gables of the Hochzeitshaus visible above the rooftops — and out toward the forested hills of the Weserbergland.
The Weser cycling route passes through Hameln and the promenade section is busy with cyclists in summer. If you are cycling the Weser-Radweg, this is one of the most scenic sections of the route. Even without a bicycle, the river walk makes a pleasant half-hour stroll to decompress after time in the tourist-heavy old town. Boat trips on the Weser are also available in summer from the landing stage near the old town bridge.
