Hanover's first proper skyscraper — a 51-metre brick tower finished in 1928 for the Madsack newspaper group, designed by Fritz Höger in the same Expressionist brick style as his Chilehaus in Hamburg. The green copper dome on top originally contained a planetarium and now houses a cinema.
The Anzeiger-Hochhaus is still owned and used by the newspaper. The cinema in the dome, the Hochhaus-Lichtspiele, is one of the most atmospheric in the city.
