Getting Around

Hannover is one of Germany's easier cities to get around. The Stadtbahn (light rail), trams and buses run by USTRA cover everything within the ring road and reach out to Hannover Messe, the trade fair grounds south of the city. The U-Bahn tunnel under the centre was finished in time for Expo 2000 and remains one of the most modern in Europe. The compact city core is best walked, and the city's bike infrastructure is good — flat terrain, decent paths, and the Eilenriede forest cuts straight through town for a traffic-free ride.
