Hannover is a major hub on Germany's rail network. The Hauptbahnhof sits in the middle of the city with ICE high-speed services to Berlin (about 1h40), Hamburg (1h15), Frankfurt (2h20) and Munich (4h). Hannover Airport (HAJ), 11 km north of the centre, has connections across Europe and a fast S-Bahn link (S5) that reaches the Hauptbahnhof in under 20 minutes. Drivers arrive on the A2 (Berlin-Ruhr) and A7 (Hamburg-Kassel) autobahns, which intersect just outside the city.
