The Kröpcke is the busy intersection at the geographic centre of Hanover — three pedestrianised shopping streets meet here, the U-Bahn underneath ties together half the city's lines, and the public-clock at the corner is the standing local rendezvous point ("we'll meet under the clock at six").
The square is not beautiful, but it is functional and lively. The Cafe Kröpcke on the southern corner is the long-running classic for cake and coffee.
