Aqua, in the Ritz-Carlton hotel on the edge of the Autostadt, is one of the most decorated restaurants in Germany — chef Sven Elverfeld held three Michelin stars here for many years. The cooking is precise, modern German with strong Mediterranean influences; the dining room overlooks the artificial lagoon at the heart of the Volkswagen complex.
It is closed several days a week and reservations should be made weeks ahead. Dinner is a long, expensive evening that no one stumbles into; if you want to eat seriously well in Wolfsburg, this is the one place to plan around.
