Wolfsburg's attractions divide into two clusters. The Autostadt, AutoMuseum, and Volkswagen plant tours fill a full day around the canal-side complex north of the centre. South of the railway station, the Phaeno, Kunstmuseum, and Alvar Aalto Cultural Centre make up an unexpectedly serious cluster of postwar architecture and contemporary culture.
A single weekend handles both halves comfortably. Add Allerpark in summer for swimming, and Schloss Wolfsburg if you want a glimpse of the older landscape on which the planned city was overlaid.
