Wolfsburg sits directly on the Hannover–Berlin ICE line. Trains run every hour or two; from Berlin Hauptbahnhof it is about an hour and from Hannover about half an hour. Most trains stop directly at Wolfsburg Hauptbahnhof, immediately south of the Phaeno and the Autostadt.
By road the city is on the A2 motorway, the main east–west route across northern Germany. The nearest international airport is Hannover-Langenhagen (HAJ), about 45 minutes by car or 50 minutes by train. Hamburg, Berlin, and Leipzig are all within easy day-trip range.
