Skulpturenpark Waldfrieden is a hillside sculpture park in Wuppertal, founded by artist Tony Cragg and set in woodland around a historic villa. Large contemporary works appear along paths and clearings, so the visit is both gallery and walk.
It suits Wuppertal well: green, steep, a little unexpected, and more rewarding than a simple checklist sight. Come with time to wander, because the relationship between sculpture, slope, trees, and changing light is the point.
