Postenturm

The Postenturm is one of the best-preserved watchtowers in Bacharach's medieval wall circuit. From the top you get the classic overhead view of the town — the one that appears on postcards and in every Rhine travel brochure — with the red-tiled rooftops packed tightly inside the walls and the river beyond. The walls themselves are freely walkable for much of their length, and the route from the Postenturm connects to the path up toward Werner Chapel and Stahleck. Allow an hour to walk the accessible section of the walls without rushing.
