Cochem is well connected by rail and sits on the scenic Mosel valley railway line between Koblenz and Trier. Direct trains run regularly from both cities; the journey from Koblenz takes around 50 minutes and the ride along the river is worth taking slowly. By car, Cochem is about an hour from both Koblenz and Trier via the B49, which follows the Mosel closely. There is no commercial airport nearby — the closest are Frankfurt (about 2 hours) and Cologne/Bonn (about 1.5 hours).
