Sesselbahn and Pinnerkreuz

The Cochem chairlift — the Sesselbahn — runs from Endertstrasse up to the ridge above the town, covering around 255 metres of altitude in about 20 minutes. It operates from spring through autumn and the ride itself is worth taking: the views of the Mosel river, the castle, and the vine-covered slopes open up quickly as you climb.

At the top, the Pinnerkreuz is a large cross marking the best viewpoint. From here the full sweep of the river bend and the old town below is visible — this is the view that photographers chase. A 15-minute walk beyond the cross leads into the forest, and the ridge trail connects to walking routes through the surrounding wine villages. The return journey down by chairlift is equally good.
