Anhaltisches Theater is Dessau's main stage, a reminder that Anhalt was once its own state with a capital ambitious enough for opera, drama, concerts, musicals, and puppet theatre. The building is best known for its large revolving stage, one of the biggest in Germany.
Even if you are in Dessau mainly for the Bauhaus, the theatre adds another layer to the city. Check the programme if you are staying overnight; otherwise it is still worth passing on a walk between the centre and the Bauhaus sights.
