Old Mint

The Old Mint is one of Wernigerode's surviving 16th-century half-timbered buildings. Its stone base and timber upper floors fit naturally into the old town streetscape, but the building stands out for its age and former civic role.

It now houses the Harz Library and town archives, so most visitors come for the exterior rather than a full museum visit. It is a worthwhile short stop while exploring the lanes around the Marktplatz.
