St. John's Church

St. John's Church is the oldest surviving church in Wernigerode, standing at the edge of the historic Neustadt. Its oldest Romanesque parts date to around 1279, while the main hall was expanded into a three-aisled nave in the late 15th century.

Inside, look for the Gothic carved altar from 1415, the early 17th-century pulpit, and older sculpture. The church was damaged in 1944 and restored after the war.
