The Western Gate Tower is a 38-metre Gothic tower that once formed part of Wernigerode's town defences. First recorded in the 14th century, it served as a toll gate on the western side of the old town.
It is an easy stop while walking Wernigerode's historic centre. The tower helps show the old town's medieval edges, especially when paired with the market square, half-timbered houses, and castle views.
