The Nordfriesland Museum is the best single stop for understanding Husum's coast. Its exhibits cover the Wadden Sea, storm floods, island life, Frisian culture, and the uneasy relationship between land and water here.
It gives useful context before heading out to the islands or simply walking the harbour with a better eye for why it exists where it does.
