Windsurfing

The channel between Antiparos and Paros is one of the best windsurfing spots in the Cyclades, funnelling the Meltemi wind that blows reliably through the Aegean from late June to early September. The western coast of Antiparos faces directly into this wind, and the water in the channel is shallow enough for beginners but challenging enough for experienced riders in strong conditions.

Equipment rental and lessons are available through operators based on Paros who run over to Antiparos during the season. The best conditions are typically in the afternoon when the Meltemi is at full strength. Kitesurfers also use the same area. Even non-participants will find the spectacle of a dozen sails on the blue channel water — with the barren hills of Antiparos and the larger mass of Paros beyond — a good reason to come to this side of the island.
