Epidaurus is most easily visited as a day trip from Nafplio, about 30 kilometres to the west. Buses run from Nafplio's bus station several times a day; the journey takes about 45 minutes. Taxis and hired cars are also practical.
From Athens, several tour companies offer day trips to Epidaurus, often combined with Mycenae or Nafplio. Driving from Athens takes about 2.5 hours. If you are driving, the approach through the hills above Lygourio gives good views of the surrounding landscape.
During the Athens and Epidaurus Festival (July and August), special evening buses run from Athens and Nafplio directly to the theatre for performances.
