Acanthos

Acanthos was one of ancient Halkidiki's important cities, founded by colonists from Andros in the 7th century BC. The site stretches over a ridge near Ierissos, with traces of walls, graves, and settlement layers that point to a long Greek and Roman life.

This is not a polished archaeological park with big signs at every turn. Its appeal is quieter: a historic hillside above the coast where you can connect the modern resort landscape with a much older Aegean world. Go with decent shoes and a little patience.
