Cape Drepano

Cape Drepano is the southwestern tip of the Kassandra peninsula, a wedge of low cliff with a lighthouse and a famous shallow strip of sand that runs out into the sea at low tide. The cape is the southernmost point of Kassandra, and the views east towards Sithonia and south across the open Aegean are wide and uninterrupted.

The drive down from Pefkochori through cypress forest is one of the quieter pleasures of Halkidiki. There are no formal facilities at the cape itself; the small village of Kassandra at the western foot of the cliffs has a couple of tavernas. Best at sunset, when the light catches the white limestone cliffs and turns the water orange.
