Panagia Tsoukas Monastery stands above the Arachthos gorge, south-east of Ioannina, in the stone-village country of Katsanochoria. The monastery is old, but the first thing most visitors remember is the view: a balcony-like position over a deep, green cut in the landscape.
It works as a half-day excursion if you have already seen the lake, castle, museums, and island. Dress respectfully, move quietly, and leave time for the drive, because the approach through the villages is part of the pleasure.
