Getting There

Karpathos has a small airport (AOK) on the south of the island with seasonal direct flights from Athens (around 50 minutes) and Heraklion in Crete, as well as some charter connections from northern Europe in summer. Outside the main season, connections are limited.

By sea, Karpathos is on the Dodecanese ferry route. ANEK and Blue Star Ferries connect the island to Piraeus (around 15–18 hours), Rhodes (5–6 hours), and Crete. The ferry port is in Pigadia; a smaller port at Diafani serves the north of the island. Check schedules carefully — services vary considerably by season.
