Arvanitia Promenade

The Arvanitia is the coastal walking path that wraps around the base of the Akronafplia rock from the western edge of the old town to Arvanitia Beach on the south side of the headland. It is roughly one kilometre each way, paved the whole distance, and shaded for most of it by pines clinging to the cliff face.

This is Nafplio's evening walk. Locals do it slowly between six and nine in summer, with stops at the small chapels along the way and at the rocks where teenagers jump into the sea. The far end gives onto Arvanitia, a small pebble beach in a sheltered cove; the path then continues another three kilometres around the headland to Karathona Beach if you want a longer walk.
